This track is dedicated to all the brave men and women who have served, or are currently serving, in our Armed Forces and/or as First Responders. The Black Snake Bayou Band proudly salutes you, and thanks you for your service!
Some great new things are happening here in the Black Snake Bayou. The band is proud to introduce our newest members of the band: Bob Menzies (drums), Joe Pennisi (bass), Steve Latanision (Strings).
Bob Menzies started playing drums at age 10 surrounded and influenced by all the great Blues and Jazz cats in the Dayton, Ohio area. He participated in Concert and Marching bands in High School, and played with several regional touring Blues and Rock&Roll bands from Florida after service in the US Navy.
Bob is often seen on stage locally as a member of The All Veteran Blues Band at numerous benefits, fundraisers, and Festivals. He is best known as Bryan Lee’s (The Braille Blues Daddy) drummer until his death in 2020. “My greatest honor as a musician was not only being Bryan’s drummer for 3 years, but also our deep and lasting friendship.” The band did shows around the country and locally, and headlined many major International Blues and Jazz Festivals. Also involved with the annual Bryan Lee Memorial Blues Festival in his home town of Two Rivers, WI.
Bob is looking forward to playing and creating music with this talented group of musicians to bring together Blues, Country, R&R influences in the Swampy/Funky sort of way.
Joe Pennisi was fortunate to see Buddy Guy play at the age of 14 and has been in love with the Blues ever since. He subsequently picked up the guitar and never looked back. As the years progressed, his musical tastes broadened and he added proficiency on bass. Still his love for Blues based music endured. He has played in numerous bands, including a 13 year stint with New York favorites The Foy Brothers. That tenure included honors and a semifinals spot at the international Blues competition in Memphis, TN.
Joe is thrilled to have joined the Black Snake Bayou Band and looks forward to sharing musical joy with its talented members and audiences.
Multi-instrumentalist Steve Latanision has been playing Bluegrass, Irish, Americana, Folk, Jazz and Country music for the last 25 years, on over 200+ releases. As a Berklee School of Music graduate, he has played and recorded the fiddle, pedal and lap steel, banjo, dobro, mandolin, six and twelve string guitars. Most notable artists include John Cate and the Van Gogh Brothers, Jim Bauer, The Dave Sammarco Band, Lonesome Jukebox, Grammy award winning producer Anthony J Resta and Grammy award winning engineer Ducky Carlisle. Steve has won awards with MCMAA, NHCMA, and NECMO.
The Black Snake Bayou Band wants to give a special shoutout to Randy Short, Steve Glavas, and Andrew Chalaire for all their hard work and dedication to this project. From it's inception, they gave their all, and they will always be remembered as founding brothers. Thank you for your service, and best of luck to you both in all your future endeavors!
